Mysuru: Following the notice issued by District Returning Officer urging all political parties to remove party flags flying atop houses of their party activists in the wake of poll code, Member of Parliament (MP) Pratap Simha met Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhiram G. Sankar at his office yesterday and submitted a memorandum urging him to relax such rules as the party had obtained No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Court to fly the party flags.
The MP met the DC along with other BJP leaders and appealed him to give permission to allow the party activists to hoist the party flags atop the houses.
He also attached the photo copy of the Court’s order along with the memorandum.
Replying after receiving the appeal, the DC said that as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI), political parties and candidates must never permit their followers to use any person’s land, wall, or building without their permission for erecting flagstaffs, tying banners, writing slogans or pasting notices. Notices were issued to remove the party flags following the directions from ECI, he added.
However, the DC said that he would verify this appeal and once again clarify from ECI in this regard.
