Mysore/Mysuru: Amara Shilpi Jakanachari Commemoration Day was held at a programme jointly organised by District Administration, Kannada and Culture Department and Vishwakarma Sri Amara Shilpi Jakanachari Samsmarana Dinacharane Samiti at Kalamandira here on Jan.1.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, MLA L.Nagendra pointed out that Amara Shilpi Jakanachari sculpted the famous Channakeshava temple at Belur in Hassan district and added that it is necessary to support Vishwakarma community for taking forward the legacy of the iconic sculptor.
Maintaining that he has already given Rs.10 lakh for Vishwakarma temple and Rs. 5 lakh for Vishwakarma Hostel out of his Legislators’ Fund, Nagendra promised to give Rs.5 lakh more for the development of the community. He called upon the community members to fight unitedly for integrated development of the community members.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham, KEA Chairman Hemanth Kumar Gowda, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal, SDM College faculty Dr. Vinoda, Corporator Ramesh (Ramani), Rangayana Joint Director Mallikarjunaswamy, Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa, noted sculptor Arun Yogi, Vishwakarma community leaders Huchhappachar, Siddachar, Chayadevi, Vasanthkumar and others were present on the occasion.
