Mysuru: The Diabetes Control and Complications Summit was organised by American College of Physicians (ACP), India Chapter, in city recently.
Dr. B. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor, JSS University, who inaugurated the Summit, expressed concern over the increasing burden of diabetes in India and called upon the clinicians to update themselves of the innovative technologies available for early detection and management of diabetes for prevention of complications.
He appreciated the works of Padma Shree Dr. V. Mohan in pursuing research in the field of diabetes and starting of Precision Diabetes Department Centre in India, for the first time in the world.
Dr. Mohan, Chairman of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Centre, in his address, spoke on the progress in research being made at his Precision Diabetes Centre which will result in personalised care for diabetic patients revolutionising the treatment of diabetes.
He said India has taken the lead in its research on precision diabetes treatment and will be one of the top countries in the world in future in adopting genetic mapping for precision treatment in diabetes.
Dr. M. Suresh Babu, Professor of Medicine, JSS Hospital and Governing Council Member, ACP, India Chapter, welcoming the members, said ACP is conducting programmes in different places across the country helping the Physicians to update themselves. Dr. V. Mohan was felicitated on the occasion. Dr. K. Javeed Nayeem, Senior Physician, introduced Dr.Mohan to the members and expressed his happiness at the great achievements being made by Dr. Mohan over the years.
