An appeal to Railways to keep coaches clean and tidy

Sir,

This is in continuation with the letter titled “An Appeal To Railways” published in this column dated Dec. 8. I too had a similar experience while travelling from Mysuru to Hyderabad on train number 12786.

I am a frequent traveller in this train with my family and I book 2 tier AC. While boarding the  train from Mysuru I saw small and medium sized rats roaming freely in the 2 tier AC coaches and also informed the concerned TT as well as the coach assistants who provide blankets, but both of them said its a common scene and I can raise a complaint online.

I raised the complaint through Clean my Coach  website, when the train was near Srirangapatna. However, none of them came over to clean it even at  Bengaluru (SBC) Station. I was pretty much disappointed and had no other option but to reach the destination Hyderabad.

Earlier I used to see that the coach used to get cleaned with the movement of train and they also clicked the photos after cleaning and asking the passengers within the coach to mention their PNR number and rate the cleaning experience. However, no such activity is being done now.

Furthermore, the dustbins are only cleaned at the terminating stations and hence I advise to clean them at important junctions to control pests. Hope the Railway authorities concerned will look into this problem and allow the passengers to have a peaceful journey while travelling from source to destination.
