Mysuru/Mysore: Industrialist K.V. Murthy and Chartered Accountant T.R. Harish were conferred ‘Anarghya Kala Poshaka’ for their contribution to music, at the ‘Kalabhivardhana-2020’ programme organised by the city’s Kala Sandesha Prathishtana at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Monday.
Speaking after conferring the award, Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji, Founder of Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple in Vijayanagar, opined that art is not just a form of entertainment but a moral and cultural guide to the younger generation.
Noting that Art plays a crucial role in the mental development of younger generation, he said that Music and Dance have the power to earn the grace of Gods.
Pointing out Mysuru is a city of Scholars, Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji recalled the role of the erstwhile Mysore Maharajas in promotion of art and culture.
Stating that many Associations and organisations have continued the legacy of Maharajas, he said that such programmes will help in promotion of arts.
Reminiscing the achievements of scholar Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya, the Swamiji observed that the veteran scholar’s guidance was much needed for the younger generation.
Complimenting K.V. Murthy and T.R. Harish for patronising art and culture, he said that the two are responsible for the organisation of many music and dance concerts in the city.
He lauded the Prathishtana for honouring the two art patrons.
Mentioning the role of well-known danseuse Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy in conducting Musical and Dance Concerts in the city for years, he said that the danseuse is playing a key role in engaging the youth for carrying forward the rich legacy of art and culture.
Dr. Vasundhara Doreswamy, Dr. Kripa Phadke, Dr. D. Umapathi, K. Sandesh Bhargav, Manu Guruswamy, Radhika Sandesh and others were present.
Later, Vidwan H.K. Narasimhamurthy, along with his son H.N. Bhaskar and granddaughter Pruthvi Bhaskar, gave a violin concert. They were accompanied by Vidwans G.S. Ramanujam and V.S. Ramesh.
