Mysore/Mysuru: Anjuman E Hadiqatul Adab, Mysuru, over a century-old organisation which has been promoting literature, art, harmony and culture, had organised a function in city on Sunday to felicitate toppers.
About 52 SSLC and 46 PU toppers and their parents, along with other students participated in the function at Jaganmohan Palace Auditorium.
Renowned career guidance specialist Md Anees Kutty from Pune, who runs a training institute for NDA aspirants and who has been instrumental in helping more than 650 of them to reach their goal, had been invited as guest speaker to enlighten the students about various career options available to them.
Addressing the large gathering, the speaker pointed out that there are equally and also more lucrative and attractive careers, beyond just medicine and engineering which today are the only two that are most well-known to students and their parents.
He lamented that many of them, upon failing to make it to these two goals, settle down, out of sheer ignorance, for some very ordinary choices that lead nowhere and leave them frustrated for the rest of their lives.
He stressed that all schools, colleges and social service organisations should create good career guidance facilities and regularly invite knowledgeable experts to guide the students.
Emphasising on the need for all students to appear for entrance exams of Navodaya and Sainik Schools, he said this was necessary, at least to give parents an idea of whether their children were getting the right standard of education in the schools they were going to.
He stressed that all students should pay special attention to doing well in mathematics as it was a very important requirement to do well in almost all competitive exams.
Kutty, who is known for offering his services free of cost, reassured the audience that he would be most willing to guide them with their efforts in future too.
