Mysore/Mysuru: Reader and Head of Applied Art at Chamarajendra Government College of Visual Arts (CAVA), Mysuru, Binduraya R. Biradar inaugurated the annual drawing camp organised for children by JSS Mahavidyapeetha, by symbolically drawing a picture on a drawing sheet at a programme held at JSS Baljagath School on Ramanuja Road in city yesterday. The camp will be held from 9 am to 1 pm till Apr. 26.

Speaking on the occasion, Binduraya opined that the parents must encourage the young talents of their children and support them in what they do.

The camp which is being organised from the past 13 years will be held in three categories — for those aged between 6 years and 9 years; 10 years and 13 years and from 14 years to 16 years. Over 38 children from across the city have registered for the camp this year.

JSS School Art teachers will train students to draw and paint and will also guide them. Children will be taken out to a field trip on one day during the camp to draw pictures related to environment. Senior artists will demonstrate art works. On the last day, that is Apr. 26, drawings created by the children will be kept on display. Prizes (first, second and third) will be given to the best drawing and certificates will be distributed to all the participants.

Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) President S.T. Ravikumar presided over the event while Senior Artist and noted Photo-Journalist S.M. Jambukeshwar, who is also the camp convenor, was present.
