K.R. Nagar: The annual feast of St. Antony at Dornahalli in K.R. Nagar, coming under Mysore Diocese, was celebrated today.
Thousands of people from different castes and creed gathered in large number to honour the Saint and expressed gratitude for the favours bestowed on them and fulfilled their vow made to the Saint.
Bishop of Mysore Most Rev. Dr. K.A. William, who spoke to the media, said that the annual feast of St. Antony was being held since many years in Dornahalli and added that many have found solution to their problems through the Saint’s blessings.
The Bishop asked people to live in faith, peace and harmony besides helping the poor and the needy in the same way taught by Jesus Christ.
Earlier, St. Antony’s Shrine Parish Priest Fr. R. Arogya Swamy, along with fellow priests, devotees and villagers, accompanied Bishop of Mysore Rev. K.A. William and Bishop of Kolkata Most Rev. Dr. Cyprian Monis, in a procession to the venue, where a Mass was conducted.
At 5 pm today, Fr. Antony will lead the prayers at the shrine and the statue of St. Antony will be taken in a procession later.
Arrangements have been made at the venue for the devotees who have come from far of places.
The jurisdictional Police are providing security and managing vehicular movements to avoid traffic jams.
