Annual Pratibha Puraskar presented

Award-winning author Dr. Veena Bharathi (extreme left) presenting silver medal to A. Sevanti Mayuri for scoring highest marks in Zoology - B.Sc final year at the annual ‘Pratibha Puraskar’ function of Sarada Vilas College (SVC) in city recently.

Mysore/Mysuru: Sarada Vilas College (SVC) hosted the annual ‘Pratibha Puraskar’ function on May 8, where a total of 58 Endowment Awards were given away to student achievers.

Vid. Dr. C.A. Sridhar, renowned flautist and retired Principal of Fine Arts College, University of Mysore, inaugurated the function and spoke about the positive and motivating impact of art and music, in strengthening the academic journey of the students.

N. Chandrashekar, Hon. Secretary of Sarada Vilas Educational  Institutions, Mysuru, who was the guest of honour on the occasion, also addressed the gathering. The function was presided over by Dr. M. Devika, Principal, Sarada Vilas College, Mysuru.   

Dr. Veena Bharathi, an alumnus  of SVC,  gave away the two silver medals and cash prizes (which she has instituted since 2008, in her mother Laxmi Ashwath’s name) to A. Sevanti Mayuri for  scoring highest marks in Zoology – B.Sc final year and to M.N. Abhishek (highest  overall  marks in                                                      final year B.Sc).

Dr. Veena Bharathi, who is an award-winning author, an alumnus of Mysore Medical College & Research Institute, emphasised on the role of Music and Literature in moulding her as a meritorious MBBS student.

She said playing Kannada and Hindi film songs on Mandolin a week before major exams used to be the anti-stressors. “Now, in life, Music and Literature have become the Oxygen Masks for me to cope up with the Aarohana & Avarohana of life,” she added.
