Mysuru: GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru, hosted its Annual Techno-Cultural Fest ‘Geethayaana-2025’ at its M. Govinda Rao Memorial Hall recently. The 3-day Fest was inaugurated by chief guest, S.N. Sethuram, Deputy Commissioner (retd.), Income Tax Department, Mysuru, also an actor, director and playwright.
The programme commenced with a solemn observance of two minutes silence to condemn the Pahalgam terror attack. This was followed by a video tribute to late Vanaja B. Pandit, the former Hon. Secretary, GSSS.
S.N. Sethuram delivered an inspiring address that captivated the audience with its depth and relevance. He began by reflecting on the grace and inner strength that women naturally embody, emphasising that it is this grace that holds families, communities and societies together. He praised the cultural importance of nurturing feminine values and the unique role women play in preserving traditions while also embracing progress.
He spoke passionately about the social and familial roles women take on, highlighting their unwavering dedication and the deep sense of compassion with which they fulfil multiple responsibilities. His insights into multitasking by women in both personal and professional spheres resonated deeply with the audience. Highlighting the importance of women empowerment, Sethuram advocated for providing equal opportunities in all sectors of society. He stressed that empowerment is not just about external support but also about self-respect, confidence and the ability to assert one’s identity.
An ardent lover of the arts and literature, Sethuram also underscored the importance of literature in shaping a thoughtful and empathetic society. He encouraged young minds to engage with literature and culture to enrich their understanding of life and society.
The function was presided by Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy, President, GSSS, Mysuru, in the presence of B.V. Srinivas Guptha, Vice-President, GSSS, Anupama B. Pandit, Secretary, GSSS and O. Prathap Kumar, Joint Secretary, GSSS. R.K. Bharath, CEO & Management Committee Member, GSSS, B.K. Nataraj, Management Committee Member, GSSS and Dr. M. Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW, Mysuru, were present during the inaugural function.
Chief Coordinators Dr. S.N. Sheshadri, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Chemistry & Dr. G. M. Sowmya, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics, HoDs, staff and students of GSSSIETW were present. The event was coordinated by Dr. Rajendra R. Patil, Professor & Head, Department of ECE & Dr. C. Shyamala, Associate Professor, Department of ECE.
The three-day event featured a variety of Inter-Collegiate Competitions. The Technospardha events, including the Bug Bounty Challenge, Poster Presentation, Blind Coding and Technical Quiz, along with cultural events such as Karnatak and Hindustani vocal, debate, dumb charades, duet dance, group dance, skit and mime were held. Geethayaana-2025 concluded with the much-awaited grand finale of the Fashion Show and Miss Geethayaana-2025 by the students of GSSSIETW, Mysuru.
