Mysuru: With a view of creating awareness on the social evil of child labour, the District Administration will be observing Anti-Child Labour Day at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road on June 12.
Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, who chaired a preliminary meeting at his office in this regard recently, said that child labour had hindered the nation’s progress. Highlighting the need for eradicating this evil practise, the DC emphasised on the need for crating public awareness an Anti-Child Labour Laws.
Stating that World Anti-Child Labour Day is being observed on June 12, the DC said that all Taluk Administrations will be directed to observe the day by staging street plays and vehicle campaigns. The DC also asked the officials to warn hotel and shop owners against employing children.
ADC Soujanya, Assistant Labour Commissioner Thammanna, Labour Officer Manjuladevi, DDPI H.R. Basappa, Women and Child Welfare Department Deputy Director Radha, District Backward Classes Welfare Officer Somashekar and others were present.
