Antimicrobial Stewardship training

Mysore: Every year, 7 lakh people die worldwide, due to antimicrobial resistant infections. Antimicrobial resistance is the ability of bacteria, virus or other parasites, to stop the working of antibiotics, antiviral and anti-malarial. As a result, standard treatments become ineffective.

Over-prescription of antibiotics and ability to purchase and use antibiotics even without prescription, has led to the rapid spread of antimicrobial resistance. Antibiotic Stewardship Protocols help to optimise treatment of infections and reduce the adverse events and resistance associated with antibiotic use.

Keeping this in mind, the Central Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), IAP Infectious Diseases Chapter and IAP Mysuru District Branch are hosting an “Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme” at JSS Hospital’s Sri Rajendra centenary auditorium in city on May 26 at 9.30 am.

The training module will be conducted by eminent Clinicians and national leaders of Central Indian Academy of Paediatrics. Over 150 medical professionals will participate, according to Dr. Rajeshwari Madappa, President, IAP-Mysuru [94480-55471].
