Mysuru: Aparna Garg took charge as new Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway (SWR), Mysuru Division, here yesterday. She is an officer of Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) of 1987 Batch of Civil Services.
She holds a Post-Graduate degree in Economics. Also a Chevening Scholar, she has obtained her second Masters Degree in Transport Economics from University of Leeds, UK.
Aparna Garg possesses a wide range of experience in all sectors of Railway Operations and Management, having previously worked as Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru, Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer Construction Wing, Bengaluru Cantonment and other portfolios in Headquarters, and also as Senior Divisional Finance Manager in Madurai and Mysuru Divisions. She has held the post of Member Secretary-Railway Recruitment Board, Bengaluru, and IT Manager in the South-Western Railway.
During service, Aparna attended training courses in Singapore, Malaysia and USA. She also participated in the Strategic Management Workshop at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Earlier in her career, she was selected to pursue research under the UGC Junior Research Fellowship and also for the UNDP sponsored Public Policy Course in IIM, Bengaluru.
Besides her technical qualifications, she has a keen interest in sports, yoga and fine arts.
