Mandya: As Mandya prepares to host the 87th edition of the Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, various organisations and scholars from the district have appealed to the State Government to appoint a local person as the President of Sammelana.
Among the names being considered are Kannada Sangha President and thinker Prof. B. Jayaprakash Gowda and writer Dr. Latha Rajashekar. Local organisations have urged authorities to consider either of these distinguished individuals to lead the mega literary event.
However, given Karnataka’s rich heritage of Kannada scholars, the President doesn’t need to be from the host district. The final decision will be made after discussions between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Mahesh Joshi and other stakeholders soon.
