Mysore/Mysuru: For the past few months, Surabhi Ganakalamandira, Gokulam, Mysuru, is conducting an innovative programme, ‘Aralu Prathibhe,’ a monthly programme based on Karnatak classical music showcasing the talents of its students and new faces.
This move is aimed at preparing the youngsters for stage performance and instilling confidence in them, besides providing opportunity to explore their talents.
The 8th programme in the series will be held on Mar. 24 (Sunday) at ‘Rasavrinda’, 1095, Devaparthiva Road, Chamarajapuram, at 10.30 am.
In the first half, Vidu. Vinutha Prakash will render a classical concert and subsequently a lecture demonstration on ‘Importance of geethegalu in learning classical music’ will be conducted by Vidu. Malini Ramasubramanya.
Mysuru’s young artistes, Prerana Praveen and Shubhang Samaga will provide violin and mridanga support respectively.
Artistes’ profile: Vidu. Vinutha Prakash learnt music initially from Vidushi Indramma Venugopal and Vidwan Sringeri Nagaraj and later under the tutelage of Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar. She is a Master’s degree holder in Music with gold medal from University Fine Arts College, Mysuru.
Vidu. Malini Ramasubramanya hails from a family of musicians from Hosahalli and was trained by Vidushis Lakshmi and Kasturi Sridhar. For more than a decade now, she is under the guidance of Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar. Malini also holds a Master’s degree in Music with gold medal and an M.Phil. Presently she is pursuing Ph.D in Music.
