As students protest, UoM VC assures to postpone exams

Mysore/Mysuru: Demanding the postponement of exams, students of Maharaja’s College staged a protest under the banner of All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) in front of the main gate of Crawford Hall, administrative building of University of Mysore (UoM) here yesterday.

The students, who demanded the withdrawal of exams starting from Dec. 15 said, “The authorities should initiate action on recruiting adequate number of Assistant Professors, Lecturers and conduct the classes regularly. Even though it has been a month since the College reopened, the classes are being conducted irregularly due to non-appointment of teaching faculty, but the exam time-table is announced. Not even a class has been conducted for the subjects of Financial Accountancy, Physical Education, Environmental Studies and Marketing Management for the students of B.Com and MBA. Though all these issues were brought to the notice of authorities concerned at the Varsity, no action has been taken.”

Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore Prof. N.K. Lokanath and Registrar Dr. K.M. Mahadevan, who visited the protesting students, received the memorandum and assured to postpone the exams, besides looking into other issues bothering the students.

Later the students withdrew their protest.
