Mysuru: Eight hockey players from Ashwini Sports Federation (ASF) represented the Karnataka ICSE Schools Under-16 team. The team emerged victorious at the All India ICSE School (ASISC) National Hockey tournament held in Ranchi from Nov.5 to Nov.7.
They defeated Bihar/Jharkhand (6-1), Uttar Pradesh (4-0), Maharashtra (3-0), Tamil Nadu (6-0) in the semi-finals and Andhra Pradesh and Telengana (4-1) in the finals and thus clinched the Championship Trophy.
K.D. Kushalappa was adjudged the most promising player of the tournament. He along with Bhuvan Bopanna, Dishan Kariappa, Prateek Kushalappa, Neel Somaiah, C.B. Poovana, Maurya Poonacha and Nikhil Thimmaiah are selected to represent the ICSE All India Schools team at the School Games Federation National Championship which to be held in Ambala, Punjab from Nov.27.
