The trekkers, who went to Mt. Saurkundi Pass in Dhauladhar range in Manali region in Himachal Pradesh as part of Asha-2019, an exclusive expedition for the tribal girls organised by Tiger Adventure Foundation (TAF) and Ladies Circle India, were felicitated for their successful summit, at Rotary Centre in city recently.
The team consisted of 12 tribal girls, 2 lady staff, 1 male staff from Bandipur and Nagarhole region who are pursuing the academics at Viveka Tribal Centre for Learning, Hosahalli, — Ishwaraya, Ashwini, Kavya, Navya, Anjana, G.S. Sumithra, Sushmitha, Shilpa, Rakshitha, Jyothi, K.G. Sona, Pramila, Shruthi, Maheshwari and Kumara — along with 26 other trekkers from Mysuru, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Udupi and Ballari — L. Bhavana, Charan Ashwath, Chandana Naveen, Diya M. Mundasad, Dr. S. Gururaj, Dr. M. Jyothsna, Dr. Sunaina, G. Harshitha, S. Keerthana, G. Meenakshi Prakash, M. Mohan Kumar, B. Mukesh, N.L. Naga Jyothi, V.R. Nakshatra, G. Prafulla, H.V. Pragnya, Riya Solanki, Sadhvi S. Shetty, Sahana J. Kowligi, D.K. Saritha, N. Sharath, Shweta Bullanavar, Suma Mahesh, Swetha M. Mundasad, H.S. Veeresh and DSD Solanki.
Dr. Anil Dutt Semwal, Director, Defence Food Research Lab, (DFRL), who was the chief guest during the felicitation ceremony.
Also, Coluvanda Punya Nanjappa, a trekker of TAF, was feted on being selected as a trainee pilot of Indian Air Force Flying Branch. Punya’s mother Anuradha Nanjappa was also honoured.
Others present on the occasion include Namrata Shenoy, National President of Ladies Circle India, PHF DSD Solanki, Chairman, Tiger Adventure Foundation and Suma Mahesh, Hon. Secretary, Tiger Adventure Foundation.
Earlier, Riya Solanki, team leader, Asha-2019, gave an insight into the Asha-2019, expedition; Punya Nanjappa and Nagajyothi, the trekker shared their thoughts on the expedition, and Suma Mahesh, Hon Secretary, TAF, proposed a vote of thanks.
