ASHA workers’ stir enters eighteenth day

Mysore/Mysuru: The indefinite State-wide stir launched by ASHA workers seeking fulfilment of their various demands reached eighteenth day today. Over 10 to 12 ASHA workers who had gathered in front of Taluk Health Office participated in the protest this morning and raised slogans urging Government to break its silence and meet their demands. The protesters displayed their passbooks and urged the Government to speak the truth.

Pointing out that even after eighteen days of protests and agitation, their demands have not met, All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC) District Secretary Chandrashekar Meti said, “The administration is making false claims and misleading general public about remuneration received by ASHA workers. Government should break its silence and speak the truth immediately. Otherwise, we are going to intensify our agitation. If our demands are not met, ASHA workers are going to lay siege to CM’s residence as well as DCs Offices in all the 30 districts of the State on July 29.”

Organisations lend support

Extending support to ongoing stir by ASHA workers, members of All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO), All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) and All India Mahila Samskritika Sanghatane (AIMSS) held protests in front of Deputy Commissioner’s Office this morning and raised slogans against the State Government for not fulfilling ASHA workers’ demands.
