ASHA workers to stage indefinite stir from July 10

Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their various demands, which chiefly included monthly wages of Rs.12,000, ASHA workers, who are at the frontline in the battle against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, will stage an indefinite stir from July 10.

In a press statement, Manjula, District Secretary of AIUTUC affiliated Karnataka Rajya Samyukta ASHA Karyakarteyara Sangha, said that repeated pleas to the Government seeking a hike in monthly honorarium, has fallen on deaf ears.

Pointing out that the Sangha had submitted a 10-point charter of demands to the Government in January last, she said that the Government had not made any attempt to fulfil the demands.

Noting that ASHA workers are playing a vital role in the battle against COVID-19 as frontline warriors, Manjula said that ASHA workers across the State will strike down work indefinitely from July 10 and hold demonstrations at all District and Taluk Headquarters.
