Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfillment of their various demands, ASHA workers, under the banner of AIUTUC affiliated Karnataka State Samyukta ASHA Workers Association, will stage a demonstration at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park on May 17.
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, AIUTUC State leader M. Umadevi said that the demands include equal pay for equal work, recognition of ASHA workers as Government servants, solving glitches in RCH Portal Data Entry work, aggregation of honorarium and remittance of the same within 10th of every month, etc.,
Continuing, Umadevi said that ASHA workers, apart from their 36 hours of weekly duty, should not be engaged for other departmental works for any reason. She also urged the Government to provide free treatment for serious ailments, payment of TA and DA allowances, pension upon retirement, irrespective of whether it is on superannuation or voluntary retirement, hike in gratuity from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 2 lakh and distribution of good quality uniforms.
Association Advisor P.S. Sandhya said that there are 1,800 ASHA workers in the district and all of them will take part in the demonstration in Bengaluru on May 17.
Association office-bearers Komala, Shubhamangala, Savita, Manila, Bhagya, Bharathi and others were present at the press meet.
