Ahmedabad: India’s Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar and Diya Ravikumar won the girls doubles title in the Asian U-14 Tennis Tournament, held here recently.

In an all-India final, Mysuru girl Padmapriya and Diya, the top seeds, carried far too many guns for the second-seeded pair of Mariya Patel and Aaradhana Tehlan, winning 6-3, 6-3. Earlier, the top seeds survived a scare in the semifinals, scoring a come-from-behind 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 10-7 win over the pair of Sahej Lakhat (USA) and Krishika Gautam (India).

In singles action, 12-year-old Padmapriya, who won a splendid double at the Asian Junior event in Bengaluru two months ago, fell 2-6, 4-6 in the pre-quarters to Sarena Gahlot. India’s Khushi Kadian won the singles title with a straightforward 6-4, 6-3 win over Sarena.
