Aspiring pilot from Kodagu found hanging in Gujarat

Madikeri: An aspiring pilot from Kodagu, who was pursuing his pilot training at Aeronautical Training Centre in  Ahmedabad, was found hanging on Friday. The body was found hanging from a tree near the training centre in Ahmedabad with earphones still in the ears and wrist watch and shoes intact.

The deceased is Shibi Bopaiah (23), son of Bopaiah, who is working at the Raitha Samparka Kendra in Suntikoppa and Ponnnamma, a teacher at Madapura Government Primary School.

Shibi was pursuing his final year pilot training at Ahmedabad Aeronautical Training Centre and had only three months left for the training to be completed.

Shibi, who used to call his parents every night, had not called them on Thursday night. Though his parents called him, the calls went unanswered. On Friday, officials from the training centre called Shibi’s brother and informed him that his brother had committed suicide.

Shibi’s family members, who have expressed doubts over his death, said that Shibi was a lively and happy person, who would not commit suicide. Shibi’s family members, who had left for Gujarat, completed the formalities and brought the body to Kodagu this morning.

Last rites will be held today. Ahmedabad Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
