Mysuru: A complaint has been lodged at Nazarbad Police Station against the Head Constable serving at Mandi Police Station here for allegedly assaulting a person over financial issue.
While the Head Constable has been identified as Mallikarjun, the complainant has been identified as N. Nagendra, a resident of 15th Cross in Mandi Mohalla.
According to the complaint, Mallikarjun had taken the Toyota Innova car of Nagendra about two months ago to Tirupati, where the car was involved in an accident resulting in the car being damaged severely. When Nagendra took the car to the showroom to get it repaired, he was told that the car has been badly damaged and the cost for the repairs would be high.
When Nagendra informed Head Constable Mallikarjun about the cost required for the repairs, Mallikarjun said: “Claim the money from the insurance company and I will pay the balance Rs. 4 lakh by paying Rs. 1 lakh per month.”
Accordingly, Nagendra called Mallikarjun on Dec.3 and asked for the money, Mallikarjun reportedly threatened Nagendra by saying: “I cannot give you money for another six months.”
Nagendra alleged that Mallikarjun called him on Dec.6 and told him to come to Nazarbad at 6.30 pm. When Nagendra went to Nazarbad, Mallikarjun is said to have told him: “I am a Police for namesake, but I am the don of Nazarbad,” besides scolding Nagendra using foul language and assaulting him.
Nazarbad Police, who have registered a case on Dec.7 under IPC Section 341, 323, 504 and 506, are investigating.
