Assault on youth in Bellur: Bellur Police Station Sub-Inspector suspended for refusing to receive complaint

Nagamangala: Basavaraja Chincholi, the Sub-Inspector at Bellur Police Station, has been kept under suspension on charges of dereliction of duty for not receiving the complaint pertaining to assault on a youth by a group of youths belonging to other faith in Bellur town of Nagamangala taluk. Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Yathish has passed the suspension order.

The youth, who was assaulted, is Abhilash of Bellur town, who is undergoing treatment at BGS Hospital in the town.

Last Friday, a verbal altercation occurred between Abhilash and youths from a different faith regarding a bike overtaking incident of Santhe Street in the town. But on Monday evening, allegations surfaced that the same group of youths instigated another altercation over the                               same issue, resulting in the assault on Abhilash.

But when Abhilash’s father and others went to Bellur Police Station to lodge a complaint, Sub-Inspector Basavaraja Chincholi refused to receive the complaint. The complaint was finally received and a case was registered only after the intervention of DIGP (Southern Range) Amith Singh.

Considering the act of the Sub-Inspector as dereliction of duty, SP N. Yathish issued an order suspending Sub-Inspector Basavaraja Chincholi.
