Association slams MP for his remarks against KAS Officers

Mysore/Mysuru: The Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) Officers Association has slammed Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for his insulting and degrading remarks against KAS Officers.

MP Simha during  the University of Mysore (UoM) Syndicate meeting held on Feb.14 had taken UoM Registrar V.R. Shylaja, a KAS Officer, to task over CESCK (Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada) building issue.

In a release, Association President Dr. Ravi M. Tirlapura and Secretary Dr. B.R. Harish Nayaka alleged that MP Pratap Simha while taking KAS Officer Shylaja to task during a meeting, had unnecessarily dragged KAS Officers into the issue while also making light of Officers. Taking a dig at the MP, Dr. Ravi said that the Association is the only State Administrative Service Association in the country which has completed hundred years.

Saying that KAS Officers are widely recognised and appreciated in the entire country, he said it does not augur well for the MP to make light and insulting remarks against the fraternity.

Pointing out that the State had great Civil Servants such as Sir M. Visvesvaraya, Sir Mirza Ismail, Masti Venkatesha Iyengar and Navaratna Rajaram, Dr. Ravi said that the MP’s remarks was a humiliation to Civil Servants and the MP must be careful while making such remarks.

Strongly condemning Simha’s remarks, he said the Association demands that the MP unconditionally withdraw his humiliating remarks made against KAS Officers in general.
