Mysuru: A ‘Marathon – Run for Vision’ was organised by ATME College of Engineering (ATMECE) as part of their Annual Cultural Fest ATMEya-2k18 at the Oval Grounds, Manasagangothri, in city this morning.
The theme for the fest is ‘Lead the Blind – Blindness is not a curse, Blindness is not a disability, We are with you, This is our Promise.’ The run aims to spread awareness amongst the citizens of Mysuru about the blind. The objective was to let the citizens know that the blind people are one among us and blindness is not a disability. It was a 5-km run and the cut off time for the participants was about one hour.
The chief guest for the occasion was Bhavani Singh, Sandalwood Cine and Serial Actor. He motivated the participants who were running for a good cause.
The winners of the run are: Public Participants (Male) – Laxman (1st) and A.G. Shankar (2nd); Public Participants (Female) – Samisha (1st) and Vanshika (2nd); ATME Students (Boys) – Ravikiran (1st) and Yashwanthkumar (2nd); ATME (Girls) – Rachana (1st) and Sindhu (2nd); ATME Staff (Male) – Pavan (1st) and Shivakumar (2nd) and ATME Staff (Female) – Harshitha (1st) and Meghana (2nd).
L. Arun Kumar, President, ATMECE, K. Shivashankar, Secretary, ATMECE, R. Veeresh, Treasurer, ATMECE, H. Venkatesh, Member, ATMECE and other staff members were also present. Several students and staff members of ATME College along with public who had enrolled for this run took part in this marathon.
