- Opines Police Training School Principal Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti
- New team of Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Gold installed
Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Police Training School (PTS) Principal Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti observed that atrocities will come down if parents do not discriminate between boys and girls at their home.
She was speaking at the installation ceremony (2021-22) of new office-bearers of Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Gold at a private hotel in Yadavagiri here on Sunday last.
Noting that though nature does not discriminate between men and women, it is humans who were responsible for gender discrimination, Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti said that gender discrimination does not appear suddenly in the society and it starts from home first. However, the society speaks about the importance of equality when the problem of gender discrimination grows bigger, she regretted.
Opining that everyone should start practicing gender equality from their homes, she said that Pink colour should not be representative of only women. Stressing on the need for giving equal status to a girl child as that of a boy, she said that now a days women stand equal with men in almost every field. The support of parents will help their wards in achieving set goals, she added.
Appreciating the Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Gold’s initiative of ‘Ondu Mushti Akki’ (One fistful of rice), she said that this initiative helped the Club in collecting 500-kg of rice, which was distributed among over 50 families during the lockdown. She also lauded the Club for taking 15 diabetic patients for treatment at Ujire, which shows its commitment for the society.
The team: Prathiba Rao was installed as the Club President (2021-22), while Uma was installed as the Vice-President, Prema as Secretary and several others as office-bearers.
The Club will carry out service initiatives under the theme ‘Pink is First’ for the year 2021-22.
On the occasion, inmates of Shaktidhama were donated sanitary pads and a laundry man from Vontikoppal was given a cheque for Rs. 5,000 as financial assistance.
Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Gold Founder-President M.R. Vijayalakshmi, outgoing President Abhijna Rajiv, Installation Officer Chandrika Raghu, former President Vijaya and others were present.
