Mysuru: Miscreants have managed to decamp with Rs. 1.75 lakh of a woman after diverting her attention on Belavadi Main Road here on Wednesday.
The woman, who lost the money, has been identified as Shruthi, wife of an autorickshaw driver and a resident of Belavadi village.
On Wednesday, Shruthi withdrew Rs. 1.75 lakh from SBI Bank to purchase an autorickshaw and kept the cash in the boot of her Honda Activa scooter and was proceeding towards her home on Belavadi Main Road, when two miscreants on a bike approached her from behind told her that currency notes were falling from her scooter. Shruthi, who looked behind saw some currency notes fallen on the road.
The shocked Shruthi, then stopped her scooter, got down and went near the fallen currencies only to see seven currency notes of Rs. 10 denomination. She then picked up the currency notes and went to her scooter and opened the boot only to see Rs. 1.75 lakh cash she had withdrawn missing and lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station.
It is learnt that the lock of the scooter boot was not working and the miscreants must have observed Shruthi while she was withdrawing the cash, keeping it in the boot of the scooter and also trying to lock the boot and then diverted her attention to loot the cash.
If the Police check the footages of CCTV cameras installed on the route Shruthi had travelled, it would be easy for the cops to trace the miscreants.
Vijayanagar Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating and have warned the public to be careful with strangers.
