Autism Awareness Month: Live Phone-in Programme at AIISH on Apr. 1

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neuro developmental condition that causes problems in behaviour, social interaction and communication. The United Nations has declared April 2 as “World Autism Awareness Day” while “World Autism Awareness Month” is celebrated every year in the month of April worldwide to create awareness about ASD amongst the public.  As part of Autism Awareness Month, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, has organised a live Phone-in Programme on April 1 between 2 pm and 3 pm on the topic “Importance of Autism Awareness Day.” Interested may call Ph: 0821-2502530.

This live phone-in programme will focus on the importance of early identification, early intervention and team based rehabilitation for individuals with ASD. Resource Persons are: Dr.Jayashree C. Shanbal – Chairperson – ASD Unit and Head of Tele-centre for persons with communication disorders, Dr. Niraj Kumar Singh – Associate Professor in Audiology and Freddy Antony – Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology.
