Avoid Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway from 1 am to 4 am

Sir,

This refers to the news report ‘12 major crimes on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway’ since its opening in March 2023 (Star of Mysore dated Sept. 18).

Most robberies and thefts occur between 1 am and 4 am. There are two key reasons why drivers of both four-wheelers and two-wheelers should avoid travelling on highways during these hours. First, vehicular movement is sparse, increasing the risk of being targeted by dacoits.

Secondly, these hours coincide with when most people experience deep sleep, causing drivers to become drowsy and leading to accidents. Therefore, it is advisable for drivers and riders on highways to either reach their destination before 1 am or take rest in a nearby safe place (like a Toll Booth) and resume their journey after 4 am.
