MCC collects Rs. 56 crore in two-and-a-half months
Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), which has successfully created awareness on payment of taxes among the public, has collected Rs. 56 crore as taxes in just two-and-a-half months.
The MCC, which had collected Rs. 42 crore as taxes between Apr. 1 and June 15, 2016, have collected Rs. 56 crore during the same period in 2017, an increase of Rs. 14 crore, which is a result of extensive awareness programmes by the MCC.
A discount of 5% on property tax was announced this April resulting in the MCC collecting Rs. 36 crore in 21 days in its nine Zonal Offices, which had opened special counters for collection of taxes. The MCC has provided opportunity for house and property owners to pay their taxes without fine up to June 30.
