Mysuru: A special awareness drive has been organised by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) on Swachh Bharat Cleanliness Campaign on Jan.22 and 23 at Shanthinagar in city. As part of the drive, on Jan. 22, painting competition for school and college students, quiz, group discussion for women and other activities will be held.
On Jan.23, an awareness rally by Pourakarmikas, Sthree Shakthi Groups and students will be taken out and a stage programme is organised where resource persons will speak on cleanliness awareness.
District Minister G.T. Devegowda and a host of elected representatives will participate in the awareness programme, according to a press release from the MCC.
MCC’s Appeal
In a related development, MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha has appealed for co-operation for the cleanliness campaign under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission DAY-NULM. He has appealed to self-help groups, local associations and other ground-level organisations to cooperate with the MCC in undertaking the cleanliness drives.
At a meeting held at MCC Council Hall, Jagadeesha said that self-help groups can take up and oversee cleanliness drive in all the 65 Wards by dividing areas among themselves. Along with the cleanliness drive, groups can take up door-to-door campaigns and distribute awareness pamphlets.
