Mysuru: As part of Savitribai Phule Jayanti celebrations, the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (KDSS) had organised an awareness meet at the Institution of Engineers Hall on JLB road here this morning.
Addressing the meet, KDSS District Convenor Ningaraj Malladi regretted that Constitutional rights and facilities are being grabbed by the rich.
Bemoaning that Constitutionally mandated facilities were not reaching the real beneficiaries, he noted that the time has come for the oppressed sections of the society to launch a massive movement to get the Constitutional benefits.
Emphasising on the need for the oppressed and other weaker sections of the society to get education, Ningaraj maintained that education holds key for getting informed and seeking justice against inequality and societal discrimination.
Highlighting the problems faced by Ekalavyanagar residents, he urged the authorities for better infrastructure and civic amenities in the locality, where most of the residents were from the lower strata of the society.
Underlining the role of Savitribai Phule in imparting education to women, he said that empowerment of women was vital for growth of the society.
Dalit Mahila Okkoota District Convenor Puttalakshmamma presided. ZP member Dinesh Naganahalli, KDSS office-bearers and others were present.
