Mysuru: Marking International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, awareness rallies were taken out in city on June 26.
Hundreds of JSS Medical College students, doctors and staff of Department of Drug Control under the aegis of Department of Drug Control, Regional Office and Railway Security took out an awareness rally from City Railway Station to K.R. Hospital, holding placards with messages on dangers of consuming narcotics.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Drug Controller S. Nagaraj observed that more and more youth were getting addicted to narcotics which is an evil to society and nation. He asserted that the Department was very particular to see that drugs were not easily available to youth. Assistant Drug Controller Nazia, Raghulal and Co. Proprietor N. Raghavan, Drug Inspectors Harish, Ashalatha, Khalid, Ramesh, Sharif, Bhadrish, Nagesh and others participated in the rally.
Rally by Police and Students
Mandi Mohalla Police too had organised an awareness rally in city in which over 200 students of Vidyavardhaka High School took part.
The rally was flagged off by NR ACP Gopal in front of Vidyavardhaka College on Seshadri Iyer Road here which passed through Sayyaji Rao Road, Kabir Road, Sawday Road and Mission Hospital Circle back to the starting point. The rallyists carried placards with meaningful messages on ills of consuming narcotics.
Mandi Inspector Arun, ASI Devaraj, Vidyavardhaka High School Head Mistress M.S. Uma and Police personnel took part.
