Ayurveda form of Medicine gaining popularity: VTU VC

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that much like Allopathy, the Ayurveda form of Medicine too is gaining popularity, Belagavi based Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Vice-Chancellor Dr. S. Vidyashankar said that good health is more important than anything in life.

He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on the topic “Herbal Pharmacotherapy and Ayurceuticals for Mental Health” organised jointly by Government Ayurveda Medical College and Government Ayurveda Research Centre as part of National Ayurveda Day, at Prof. Chinnaswamy Setty auditorium in Sarada Vilas Pharmacy College premises in Krishnamurthypuram here on Wednesday.

Quoting the famous saying that health is wealth, Dr. Vidyashankar said that health, along with hard work, is key for a human being to achieve  success in their chosen profession or occupation.

Noting that many people are careless about health in their daily life, he bemoaned that the younger generations care very little for health.

Pointing out that timely and appropriate health care will lessen the pressure on Hospitals, he expressed concern that more and more Hospitals are to be started for taking care of the health of     the population.

Emphasising on the need for maintaining mental health too along with physical health and well-being, he opined that addiction to mobile phones and other electronic entertainment gadgets too contribute a lot for mental stress and strain. It is important for the people to have control over their minds, he added.

Government Ayurveda College Principal Dr. Gajanana Hegde, JSS Ayurveda College faculty Dr. Guruprasad and Government Ayurveda College faculty Dr.Varsha Kulkarni also spoke.

Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions Hon. Secretary N. Chandrashekar, Government Ayurveda Research Centre Assistant Director Dr. Lakshminarayan Shenoy, Sarada Vilas College of Pharmacy Principal Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi and others were present.
