AYUSH Dept. orders closure of clinic at Devalapura

Clinic run by quack; licence in father’s name; operational for nearly 50 years

Mysore/Mysuru: District AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) Department Officer Dr. C. Renukadevi has issued orders directing the closure of a clinic at Devalapura in Varuna hobli, Mysuru taluk, which was being run illegally, by a quack, prescribing allopathic medicines to the patients.

Sri Gurumalleshwara Clinic at Devalapura was being run by Dr. Vivekananda G. Sannur, DAM (Diploma in Ayurvedic Medicine), for the past 45 to 50 years. Now, Dr. Vivekananda’s son Naveen, despite not possessing any medical qualification, was issuing the prescriptions illegally, misusing the license issued in the name of his father.

The injections and medicines, generally used by allopathic practitioners, were found in the clinic, during an inspection carried out by District AYUSH officials, following a complaint received in this regard.

On Oct. 30, 2025, the Deputy Commissioner-headed Registration and Grievance Redressal Authority meeting, had conducted an enquiry into the complaints received against above clinic and ordered the quashing of the registration obtained by Dr. Vivekananda under Diploma in Ayurvedic Medicine course.

As it is mandatory to be a Medical Graduate to obtain registration under Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Act, Dr. Vivekananda had succeeded in getting the registration under Ayurveda course. During the inspection at clinic, the registration certificate was also found to have expired.

The clinic was being opened from 6 am to 10 am and 7 pm to 9 pm. Now, the doctor has been instructed to shut down  the clinic.

He has been also warned of disciplinary action, if any attempts are made to reopen the clinic, in the letter issued by AYUSH Department to Dr. Vivekananda.
