Bengaluru/Rajkot – Gujarat Lions pacer Andrew Tye and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s leg-spinner Samuel Badree entered the history books as they both claimed a hat-trick in their respective matches yesterday.
In the first match, West Indian Samuel Badree became the bowler claim the first hat-trick of the season by scalping the wickets of Parthiv Patel, Mitch McClenaghan and Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Badree also claimed the wicket of Nitish Rana later in the innings to finish with figures of four for nine in his four overs. He became the 12th man in history of IPL to claim a hat-trick.
In the second game of the day, Australian Andrew Tye took a hat-tick on his IPL debut by dismissing Ankit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary and Shardul Thakur in the final over of the Rising Pune Supergiant innings at Rajkot. It could have been four wickets in over if Ravindra Jadeja hadn’t dropped the Rahul Chahar’s catch at deep mid-wicket. Finally, Tye finished with impressive figures of five for 17 in his four overs.
