Mysore/Mysuru: A Bengaluru-based Software Engineer recently distributed school bags and notebooks to the children of Mahouts and Kavadis who are taking part in Dasara celebrations.
The Department of Public Instruction has already taken steps to ensure that the children of Mahouts and Kavadis, who are now staying in the Palace premises are not deprived of education by opening temporary tent schools and in this backdrop, 15 children who are studying in 2nd to 5th standards were given school bags, 5 notebooks of 200 pages each, 5 pens each and fruits by Techie Harini.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that she had read in newspapers that tent schools are opened every year for the children of Mahouts taking part in Dasara. “Children in urban areas get various facilities but those who live in hamlets do not get such facilities. That’s why I have given schools bags of good quality, notebooks and textbooks to these children,” she said.
Harini is the daughter of CSB Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) S. Puttanna and Sunita, who are residing in IPS Police Layout in Mysuru. Harini presently lives in Bengaluru.
