Mysore/Mysuru: The 25th edition of Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival with the theme ‘Thoughts of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’ will be held at Rangayana in city from Jan. 11 to 18, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. P. Shivaraju.
Presiding over the preparatory meeting at the DC’s office in city recently, Dr. Shivaraju, who said that the preparations were underway for the Festival, instructed the officials to deploy more personnel to ensure cleanliness was maintained in Rangayana and its surroundings.
“Drinking water tanker must be stationed at the premises and Nodal Officers must be appointed to ensure smooth conduct of the National Theatre Festival. With Children Theatre Festival also being organised from morning till evening, Department of Education must ensure more children participate in the Festival,” he added.
24 plays to be staged
Speaking on the occasion, Rangayana Director Satish Tiptur said that the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar had ensured equality in the society.
“There have been many research works on Dr. Ambedkar which continues even to this day and this year’s Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival has been dedicated to Dr. Ambedkar. The Festival will feature 24 plays in different languages and six children play, seminars among other programmes,” he added.
Department of Kannada and Culture Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy, Rangayana Deputy Director Dr. M.D. Sudarshan and officials of various other Departments were present.
