Ban on stone quarrying and transportation: Mandya MP threatens Mines and Geology Official

Mandya: Mandya MP C.S. Puttaraju allegedly threatened Department of Mines and Geology Official Nagabhushan of dire consequences for initiating action against illegal stone quarry in the district.

The 90-second video clip of the MP allegedly threatening the official has gone viral on social media. However, the video does not show MP Puttaraju, but some of the officials, on condition of anonymity confirmed the news.

In fact, while the MP was threatening the official, Mandya DC Manjushree, Additional DC and other officials were just mute spectators. The MP was so rude the he is also said to have used foul language at Nagabhushan before threatening to block the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway.

A meeting with the miners was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office yesterday to urge DC Manjushree to lift the restrictions.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioners, senior officials of Revenue Department and quarry operators.

It may be recalled that the District Administration has banned stone quarry and transportation till Dec.10 in Panadavapura following several violations by the miners.

It may be recalled that Mandya DCF Dhananjay, during July this year, had filed a complaint against MP Puttaraju alleging that he threatened the Forest Officers of dire consequences if they forcibly shut down his illegal quarries in Babyhill Amruth Kaval deemed forest area.
