‘Bandhavya-2019’, a two-day flagship event of Rotary Mysore Midtown featuring differently- abled children, will take place at Suttur in Nanjangud taluk on Dec.21 and 22.
Announcing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, Rotary Midtown Vice-President Rtn. A.N. Aiyanna said that the two-day event is designed to be a district-level athletic meet on the lines of Special Olympics for differently-abled children. Pointing out that Rotary Midtown has been organising this unique event as an annual programme since a decade, he said that about 750 specially-abled children, their parents and 100 special educators are expected to participate in the event.
Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will inaugurate the event in Suttur at 9 am on Dec.21. International para-athlete Ramya P. Shanmugam and Assistant Governor of Rotary Zone-7 Rtn. S. Raghavendra will be the guests of honour, he said. Aiyanna said that children will be segregated into two categories — Higher ability and Lower ability and the athletic event will feature games such as Running Race, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Tennis Ball throw etc.
