Mysore/Mysuru: Railway pensioners have flagged difficulties in pension disbursal following Public Sector Bank mergers and sought timely delivery of due benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
Presiding over the Pensioners’ Day programme organised by Railway Pensioners’ Welfare Association at SC/ST Railway Employees’ Association Office on Sheshadri Iyer Road recently, Association President Parthasarathy said pensioners and their family members must be aware of the procedures for availing pensions and related facilities.
He pointed out that many pensioners are facing problems in receiving pensions in certain banks, while others were facing delays in disbursement. “In this backdrop, it is essential for pensioners and their family members to stay updated on the correct procedures to ensure timely receipt of pension,” he said.
Parthasarathy attributed the difficulties to technical issues arising from the merger of banks, which he said has caused severe inconvenience to pensioners and urged the authorities concerned to address these issues at the earliest.
He also noted that Pensioners’ Day is observed to commemorate the Supreme Court’s December 17, 1982 order, which directed that pension be paid based on the last salary drawn by an employee before retirement.
Association office-bearers G. S. Swaminathan, M. Govinda, and others were present.
