Mysuru: Well-known Cartoonist M.V. Nagendra Babu (Banter Babu) is holding a cartoon exhibition on May 4 and 5 at Mysore Art Gallery, Ramanuja Road. Mysuru District Brahmins Association President D.T. Prakash will inaugurate the expo on political and social cartoons as also caricatures featuring Banter Babu’s works at 10 am on May 4. Social activist Dr. K. Raghuram Vajapayee will be the chief guest and Gallery President L. Shivalingappa will be present. Viewers will be awarded prizes if they recognise the caricatures on display. The expo will be open from 10 am to 7 pm on both days.
Profile: Mysore Vasudeva Rao Nagendra Babu, who commenced his career as a cartoonist for Star of Mysore, has created more than 8,000 cartoons so far. He has represented India as a Cultural Ambassador to Taiwan for one year. In recognition of his expertise as a cartoonist, he has won the Fulbright Award and is the only Indian cartoonist to bag this honour.
