Basava Jayanti in city on Aug. 4 and 5

Sri Gurushanta Swamiji of Kuderu Mutt is seen performing puja to the publicity vehicle

Mysuru:  Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha, Veerashaiva Lingayat Associations and Basava Balagagala Okkuta together had organised a function at Mahadeshwara temple Circle on Madhwachar Road in K.R. Mohalla here yesterday for the launch of publicity vehicle for Basava Jayanti programmes to be held at Suttur Mutt premises here on Aug. 4 and 5.

The publicity vehicle was launched by JSS Mahavidyapeetha Hon. Secretary S.P. Manjunath. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled that the great social reformer Basavanna had always sought an Anubhava Mantapa and added that Vachanas of Basavanna were meaningful eternally.

Speaking as the chief guest, MP Pratap Simha opined that the ideas of Basavanna should be advocated by all and lauded Suttur Mutt for its contribution to educational sector.

Basava Jayanti programme posters were released by Sri Gurushanta Swamiji of Kuderu Mutt.

MLA L. Nagendra, former MLA M.K. Somashekar, former MLC Thontadarya, Mayor B. Bhagyavathi, Basava Balagagala Okkuta President K. Shivakumar, Veerashaiva Mahasabha city President T. Lingaraj and others were present.
