BCCI announces India squad for Asia Cup 2023

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced the Indian squad for the 50-over Asia Cup 2023, which will be held from Aug. 30 to Sept. 17 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Wicket-keeper-batter K.L. Rahul and middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer make a return to the squad, which includes Hyderabad batter Tilak Varma. While Varma has been included as an additional batsman, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna returns after a long injury lay-off.

India will face off against arch-rival Pakistan in a Group A match on Sept. 2 in Kandy. Nepal is the other team grouped alongside India and Pakistan.

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, K.L. Rahul (Wicket-Keeper), Ishan Kishan (Wicket-Keeper), Hardik Pandya (Vice-Captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Sanju Samson (travelling back-up).
