Beehive forces closure of ITI College for two days

Begur: A large beehive at the main entrance of the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Begur forced the college authorities to close the college for two days.

The staff of the college, who noticed the large beehive when they came to open the college on Monday morning, took a decision to declare a holiday on Monday fearing that the bees would harm the students. Later, they tried to drive away the bees in the evening but again decided to wait till night as hundreds of vehicles were plying on the NH-766 adjacent to the college. Though they tried to drive the bees in the night, the bees did not budge.

Yesterday, the staff noticed that there were more bees than the previous day forcing them to declare holiday yesterday too and the college authorities summoned a person from Liberal Association for Movement of People (LAMP) organisation, who drove away the bees at about 9.30 pm.
