Chamarajanagar: A beggar woman has allegedly abducted a two-and-a-half-year old girl child, after befriending its mother.
Anitha, aged 28 years and a native of Ramanagara, is that unfortunate mother, who has lodged a complaint at Chamarajanagar Town Police Station.
Anitha, along with her child, had come to M.M. Hills in the district three to four days ago, without informing her family members. During the course of journey, a beggar woman lured Anitha of making a windfall by seeking alms along with the kid.
The duo stayed near the Open Air Theatre at M.M. Hills and the beggar, who went around the shrine, carrying the kid in her arms, also split the money she got through begging with Anitha.
On Friday, both came to Nanjangud from Chamarajanagar. She asked Anitha to wait near the temple and went around begging along with the kid and shared a bit of money with her.
Upon coming to Chamarajanagar town, she deployed the same modus operandi at KSRTC bus stand in the town, only not to return. The images of the beggar woman holding the kid in her arms, have been captured on the CCTV cameras installed in the bus stand and shops in front of Chamarajeshwara Park.
Following a complaint by Anitha, the abducted kid’s mother, Police have launched a search for the duo — beggar woman and the kid.
