Bengaluru: Five players, Shamim Khan, S. Chikkarangappa, Himmat Singh Rai, Aruna Rohana (SL) and Sujjan Singh shared the lead at the end of Day-1 in the Bengaluru Golf Open 2017 being held at Karnataka Golf Association (KGA), Bengaluru by returning with a first-day’s score of 6-under-66.
Mysuru’s K. Harish (JWGC), taking part in the tournament, carded a first day’s score of 2-over-74 and is placed 58th in the ranking.
The tournament offers a handsome prize purse of Rs. one crore. The tournament, a Karnataka Tourism initiative to promote Golf Tourism in the state of Karnataka, featured India’s top professionals such as Jyoti Randhawa, Rahil Gangjee, Chikkarangappa, Chiragh Kumar, Khalin Joshi and Udayan Mane, to name a few. A total of 126 professionals are competing.
There will be a strong local presence with the likes of Rahil Gangjee, Chikkarangappa, Khalin Joshi and Udayan Mane, all Bengaluru-based professionals.
The prominent foreign names in the field include the Sri Lankan quartet of Mithun Perera, Anura Rohana, N. Thangaraja and K. Prabagaran, Bangladesh’s Md. Zamal Hossain Mollah, South African Damian Naicker, Australian Kunal Bhasin and Swaziland’s Arthur Horne.
