Bhagini Raaga Sourabha to feature Karnatak Vocal Concert

Mysore/Mysuru: BSS Vidyodaya and RAAGA Music Academy, Mysuru, in association with Sanskar Bharati, will present Bhagini Raaga Sourabha, a grand evening of Karnatak music featuring Vid. N.R. Prashanth at BSS Vidyodaya in Krishnamurthypuram tomorrow (Oct. 18) at 6 pm.

Being under the tutelage of stalwarts like Vid. R.K. Padmanabha, Titte Krishna Iyengar, Vidu. Neela Ramgopal and Prof. R. Visweswaran, Vid. Prashanth is known for his scholarly approach to Karnatak music, marked by raga purity, imaginative renditions, measured use of gamakas and  rhythmic depth.

An A-Grade artiste of All India Radio (AIR), he has performed extensively across India and abroad, including in the UK, USA, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.

A unique highlight of his music journey is his mastery in performing Eka Raga concerts, where he explores the depths of a single raga in innovative ways.

He has served as the Academy Registrar and Senior Faculty Member at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS), and has over 3,000 concerts and thematic performances to  his credit.

His contributions to Karnatak music and music education have earned him several honours, including the Sangeetha Sarvabhouma International Award, Kannada Seva Rathna Award, Swaralaya Rathna and Kala Bharathi Award.

For this concert, Vid. Prashanth will be accompanied by Vidu. C.V. Shruthi on violin, Vid. B.S. Prashanth on mridanga and Vid. Raghunandan Rao on ghata.
